The holiday season is here in the Boston Metro! December brings us a wealth of cultural events and classic family entertainment. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the sounds and sights of the season, and we’ve picked some of the best events to share with you!

Nov. 20 – Jan. 1: Blink! At Faneuil Hall features 350,000 lights illuminating the Boston skyline, set to the music of the Holiday Pops. The first show starts on the Main Tree at Marketplace Center and on the trees in South Market at 4:30 pm. The North Market show begins at 5:00 pm. Shows run continually through the evening.

Nov. 25 – Jan. 1: ZooLights at Stone Zoo is a wonderland of lights, imagination and holiday fun. Enjoy camel rides, family pictures with reindeer, visits with Santa and other special attractions.

Nov. 25 – Dec. 31: The Nutcracker by Boston Ballet is an unforgettable performance that will delight all ages, with colorful sets, amazing costumes and world-class talent.

Nov. 30 – Dec. 31: Boston’s Holiday Pops performs your favorite songs of the season, complete with a light show and a visit from Santa at Symphony Hall.

Dec. 1: The Boston Common Tree Lighting Ceremony and Skating Spectacular. Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Honourable Stephen McNeil, Premier of Nova Scotia, will host Boston’s 75th Annual Official Tree Lighting on Boston Common on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Prior to the tree lighting, visit the Boston Common Frog Pond for a free figure skating ice show featuring national and international competitive figure skaters, from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

Dec. 2 – 4: The Craft Boston Holiday show at Hynes Convention Center features hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind gifts from over 200 artists.

Dec. 8: The Beacon Hill Holiday Stroll begins at 6:00 pm, with Charles Street closing to traffic. Beacon Hill shops will be open late, with visitors enjoying live music and refreshments.

Dec. 16: The Boston Tea Party Reenactment includes 100 volunteer actors in period costumes, in a thrilling demonstration of one of history’s best-known protests.

Dec. 18: A Light through the Ages tells the meaning of Chanukah through story and song, concluding with a candlelight ceremony, followed by a reception at Central Reform Temple.

Dec. 31: Boston First Night has been a tradition for over 40 years! Free to all, the celebration closes out the holiday season while ringing in the New Year. Enjoy ice sculptures, light displays, musical performances and fireworks. Entertainment and specialty attractions will be focused in Copley Square and the Boston Common.
