May is a busy month in the Boston Metro area! Enjoy the best of spring weather and special events, and take time to remember our heroes on Memorial Day. Here’s a list of happenings throughout the month!
April 28-May 7: ArtWeek Boston offers hundreds of creative experiences, artist talks, performances, behind-the-scenes tours, and kids’ activities. Many are free.
May 13-21: Bay State Bike Week features bike rodeos, organized rides, breakfasts, and workshops. Hobnob with pedal-pushers at biking events throughout the metro area. Some events happen earlier in the month, so check the Bike Week event page for details!
May 14: Lilac Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum. 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. Stroll among 370 lilac plants on the beautiful greens of Arnold Arboretum. Enjoy live music and family activities. Dine from food trucks or pack a picnic. Get there using public transportation.
May 14: Duckling Day starts with activities at Boston Common at 10:00 a.m. The Duckling Day Parade steps off at noon from the Common and ends in the Boston Public Garden. Registration required. Discount for advance registration, you may also register the day of the event.
May 14-21: Together Boston celebrates the diversity of music, art, and technology through live performances, films, exhibits, and educational panels. The eclectic offerings create a multi-cultural, multi-media experience. Located in Cambridge.
May 26-28: Boston Calling Music Festival features several outdoor stages of live music at City Hall Plaza. Food and beverage vendors are located throughout the festival. Event is family-friendly, but strollers and backpacks are not allowed.
May 24-May 29: The Garden of Flags on Boston Common honors Massachusetts men and women who have died in the defense of our nation. About 37,000 flags will be placed beginning at 1:00 p.m. on May 24, remaining on display until sundown May 29.
May 27: 71st Annual Memorial Day services at Veterans Memorial Park in the Back Bay Fens, 11:00 a.m., near the Kelleher Rose Gardens.
May 30: Honor& Tribute: Memorial Day Concert 6:30 p.m. at Christopher Columbus Park in the North End. Featuring the Metropolitan Wind Symphony Orchestra. Free!
